Orlando Sharks President Rich Bradley Addresses League Changes

Earlier in the week, Orlando Sharks President Rich Bradley took the time to inform Sharks fans and season ticket holders to ensure they were up to date on what is happening with both the Sharks and the MISL.

In his letter to fans, Bradley alluded, “There are some archaic provisions in our current bylaws that have handicapped our ability as a sport to go to the next level. The cleanest and simplest solution was to dissolve the current corporation in favor of a new one. This had been discussed for quite some time, and we as teams unanimously voted to move forward on this on April 30.”

At the end of the day, this is a positive change that will allow the teams that played in the MISL last season to advance as well as offer an opportunity for the league to grow and expand into different markets.

That being said, Bradley made it clear that the league changes will not affect the Sharks organization’s plans for the coming weeks and months, stating, “It is business as usual for us, and we should have an announcement before the end of June on the birth of the new league. I can tell you it will still be the top professional players in the country playing for the championship in 2008-2009, and provided that they can retain a spot on the roster in training camp later this year, all of your favorite Sharks players will be back to play the teams you got to meet this past season.”

League news

Dear Sharks friends,

Tomorrow there will be a story in the Sentinel about the restructuring of our parent league, the MISL. I’m writing to tell you in advance that this has been contemplated for some time and has no practical application for the Sharks and our upcoming season…rather this is more of a legal change.

There are some archaic provisions in our current bylaws that have handicapped our ability as a sport to go to the next level. The cleanest and simplest solution was to dissolve the current corporation in favor of a new one. This had been discussed for quite some time, and we as teams unanimously voted to move forward on this on April 30.

Thus, it is business as usual for us, and we should have an announcement before the end of June on the birth of the new league. I can tell you it will still be the top professional players in the country playing for the championship in 2008-2009, and provided that they can retain a spot on the roster in training camp later this year, all of your favorite Sharks players will be back to play the teams you got to meet this past season.

Also, don’t forget about our summer camps….the Orlando Sharks are the only local sports camp staffed by the same professional players that you cheer on at the arena…check the website for remaining dates and locations.

Thanks again, as usual, for your support of the Sharks!

Warm Regards,

Rich
